Over the years, we have gradually earned the privilege of calling many of our customers good friends.

Blaze Through All Courses with the Garmin Fenix 2

Tuesday, May 26, 2015 12:59:55 PM America/Los_Angeles

Evolving from its origins as a hiking tool and a runner's watch, the Garmin Fenix 2 was designed to be what most people look for in gadgets these days: an all-in-one device. Loaded with a lot of features and the capability to carefully and accurately track a wide range of sports, this watch is almost the only wearable device any fitness nut would ever need, until the next one comes along.

Thoughtful Design

Despite the many features and capabilities that the Garmin Fenix 2 has, it managed to retain a very sleek and fashionable design. It doesn't look and feel bulky at all, and it retains a watch-like feel despite all the hidden gadgetry inside. It certainly won't feel awkward during your regular daily routine.

The Fenix 2 retains a lot of the design and features that the original Fenix had. It merges a lot of newer technology that Garmin has developed over the years into a very solid and likable product. The official feature list is enough to make you go “Wow” regardless if you are new or a veteran of wearable sporting gadgets.

Heavy Feature Set

The official release mentions that the Fenix 2 is capable partner for cycling, running, paddling, hiking,

climbing, skiing, and swimming. You can quickly move and switch between different profiles and sports to help you accurately keep track of your metrics. Thanks to the accelerometer as well as the built-in GPS radio, the device is capable of recording your data regardless if you are indoors or outdoors.

The device is so accurate and sensitive to movement that it can even determine the bounce in each step as well as the amount of time your feet touches the ground while running. On top of that, it can measure a ton of data from the random and rather varied movements of skiing and swimming activities. Details like pace, intervals, stroke count, time, distance, and even 3-dimensional speed and distance.

Taking You to New Places and Back

Thanks to the built in GPS radios and navigation system, not only can you find your way though a rough environment with this watch, you can also find your way back with Trackbacks and Waypoint support. Navigation is certainly easy with the help of other sensors like the altimeter, barometer and 3-axis compass. You won't have to worry about time either. Thanks to the long-lasting battery in this device, you can keep using the device in GPS mode for roughly 50 hours and even more with the GPS turned off.

Packed to the Brim

If that wasn't enough, this Fitness Watch also doubles as a Smartwatch thanks to its wireless communication features that helps it connect with your PC and your smartphone. Data like the sun/moon info, hunt/fish calendar, alarm clock, vibration alerts, tones, timer, stopwatch, and of course, the current time in your area. In fact, it can even automatically calibrate itself depending on your current timezone.

Ready for Anything

Be it a mountain or water, the Fenix 2 was designed to survive anywhere. Thanks to its durable design and water/dust prooting, this device can certainly go along with the most active individual and come out still looking like a million bucks. You can even adjust it to what you wear thanks to the replacable strap allowing you to use the longer velcro strap to allow you to use and see the watch even when wearing really thick clothing for the winter sports.

Overall, the Garming Fenix 2 is a great device that certainly does its predecessors justice. Sleek and smart, this device certainly brings the Fenix name in tune with the latest generation of technology and hardworking fitness buffs.

Start Your Routine to Fitness with the Polar Loop

Tuesday, May 26, 2015 12:55:13 PM America/Los_Angeles

Starting a healthy life always starts with a choice, and that choice starts with the Polar Loop. Designed to be the everyday coach of the man with a plan, the Polar Loop helps you make better choices in your daily routine by constantly guiding and reminding you about your goals and achievements.

All Day, All Night

The Polar loop was designed to be with you at every point of your day and night. It is there to keep track of all your activities as you go about your day. Regardless if it is simply walking to work, taking the stairs, or bringing in the big guns in the gym, the Loop will track and record every activity.

Wet and Dry

Unlike some devices that hope to capture your everyday activities, the Polar Loop is not afraid to get wet. Designed to be worn at all times, this of course includes heavy and light activities involving the water like swimming, water polo, or simply frolicking in the rain. There is no fear of water or sweat thanks to a very durable, waterproof design made of soft rubber textured plastic.

A Little Push Off the Couch

Apart from simply monitoring and keeping track of your daily activities, the Polar Bit will also help get you off your couch. Let’s face it; we often have these lazy days or lazy moments. Sometimes, we just sit or lie down for a long time daydreaming or browsing online that we forget just how much time we have already wasted loafing around.

The Polar loop not only monitors your activities, but your inactivity as well. When it feels like you have been inactive for too long, (save for sleeping) the device will try to prompt and remind you to take a walk or at least get your blood going for an hour or so. This way, your body won’t ever end up stiff and you won’t miss out on keeping your body fit and healthy.

Perfect for the Heart

For people who may have problems with their heart or for those who simply do not wish to over exert their heart, the Polar Loop can connect with a wireless heart rate monitor to help you keep track of your daily heart rate as well as the performance of your heart during your most intense activities. Without the heart rate monitor, this little wrist worn device can record and display your daily activity, calories burned, steps taken, and time of day (no need for watches!).

Easy Connectivity

Powered by Bluetooth technology, the Polar Loop is able to connect to your smartphone thanks to the Polar Flow mobile app. This app expands your view of the data that the Polar Loop collects and records. While the LED display is certainly awesome and very visible, it may lack the space to properly give you a full view of what your activity was like as well as the records of your previous days. With the Polar Flow app, you can take advantage of the wide screen display and intuitive interface design to help you manage your Loop as well as keep track of your data.

Explore Your Sport with the Polar V800

Tuesday, May 26, 2015 12:52:50 PM America/Los_Angeles

If you are looking for a device that can work for you in every scenario, then you really have to consider the Polar V800. Considered primarily as a Triathlete’s best friend, the Polar V800 is one of the most capable wearable fitness devices in the market.

3 Sports in One

In many cases, a wearable computer would simply be built to record one type of activity. In most cases, it would be running. There are those dedicated to cycling, while others still are dedicated to swimming activities. As a Triathlete-minded device, the Polar V800 was designed to handle tracking and recording data from all 3 activities. You can use it to train and record data anytime, so you don’t need to keep carrying more than one type of watch in a training session

For the Pro and the Average Joe

One thing you will love about this device is it seems to hope to cater to all types of users. Some users could be pro power trainers who really love to push themselves to their limit and train to get even better results. Some of us aren’t so hard boiled. They would rather simply train to keep fit, or in most cases, work out to lose those extra pounds. For this purpose, the Polar V800 was also designed to routinely track, record, and evaluate your daily activities 24/7, so even your daily walk to the office will be included in your overall daily workout results.

Training and Recovery

Training isn’t all about straining yourself to the fullest only to end up getting sick or injured. Every activity must have a subsequent amount of adequate rest. The Polar V800 not only tracks and record your workout data, it also tries to analyze your workout pattern, exertion, and fatigue, to the point that it can even recommend just how much rest you need to fully recover from your activity’s strain on your body.

Your Heart in Water

Unlike many water capable fitness devices that promises a heart rate monitor, this device can actually be used in the water. Not only is the V800 waterproof, the heart rate monitor it can come bundled with is also designed for use in water, allowing you to take very accurate heart rate measurements even during your water based activities. Of course, this also means that working out with heavy sweating won’t be an issue for the heart rate monitor.

High Speed Tracking

Like most training devices, the Polar V800 measures your activities not only with its built-in sensors but also with the help of GPS tracking and analysis. Equipped with a GPS caching feature, the Polar V800 is sure to easily lock and stay locked on to GPS satellites after the first lock on. It routinely keeps track of satellite locations for a faster lock on, allowing you to get started that much faster.

Smartphone Friendly

As a true device designed for the century, the Polar V800 does not ignore the advances in mobile technology. Thanks to the Polar Flow app, you can use your smartphone to record and configure your device. This allows you to plan and even analyze your training sessions with a larger and easy to use app on a smartphone interface, so you won’t have to always be forced to work with the small screen of the Polar V800.

Navigate in All Directions with the Nuvi 2798LMT

Tuesday, May 26, 2015 12:50:08 PM America/Los_Angeles

Navigating is usually all about getting you to your destination with clear directions. It helps you find what’s right ahead and what’s far beyond. Still, the world isn’t always about moving forward. Sometimes, you have to take a step back.

We’ve seen it before. One of the biggest hurdles of a driver is backing up. Rearview mirrors are often not enough, and we often rely on our companions to help guide our aim as we struggle to back up to a parking lot or to correct your direction. You would often wish you had a clear view of your back, like a third eye pointing right behind you. Well, we don’t know about growing a 3rd eye, but how about a rear camera?

A Wide View

Garmin’s latest Nuvi 2198LMT navigation system involves the latest technology from Garmin’s ever growing repository of navigation tech. It is a powerful tool that employs a 7 inch display for a vivid look at what is ahead and what is in your immediate area while navigating.

That 7 inch display also links up to a clear wide-view backup camera that you can mount to the rear of your vehicle. The camera shows you a direct live feed of all the action behind your vehicle, which is perfect for parking or a high speed car chase. (We’re kidding, of course). It offers a wider view than your rearview camera, and it doesn’t strain your neck and body from directly looking at the back of your vehicle.

Follow My Voice

The latest edge in hands free is no longer about talking to someone at the end of the line without actually holding your phone. Now, we are being groomed to talk wirelessly to our devices. The Nuvi 2198LMT is capable of understanding basic voice commands that allows you to easily access the device’s features without taking our eyes off the road and your hands off the wheel.

Always Updated

Mapping and Navigation is Garmin’s bread and butter. As such, they have to be always updated on all the changes that happen in the world’s geography. Buildings may come and go, and new roads are always being built or renovated. Business landmarks will change from time to time, and you may find that a familiar place would no longer seem so familiar in just a year or two. Garmin keeps up with all these changes to offer the best mapping and navigation solution possible.

With a purchase of a Nuvi 2198LMT, you also get lifetime maps and traffic support from Garmin’s wide pool of data. You can be sure that your navigation systems will always know your roads better than you can, and it will always stay updated with the latest changes in traffic, allowing you to plan ahead before you get stuck in a roadblock.

Human-like Directions

For most navigation services, they rely on a measurement of the roads and maps to help guide you to your destination. That is not how people really give directions if you are talking to a human. It’s not very often that you’ll meet an experienced tracker that will tell you exactly how many miles you have to travel before you make a turn. Chances are, you would ask for a landmark to help you figure out where to go, rather than rely on a calculation of distance.

Garmin’s Real Directions software emulates that by helping you navigate your roads using clearly visible landmarks. Rather than telling you to make a right turn in 500 meters, it will suggest you turn when you reach a specific landmark, say a gas station or a restaurant. Garmin’s knowledge of real landmarks and businesses is sure to help you find your way in a wild big city.

Garmin Dash Cam - Keep Another Eye on the Road

Tuesday, May 26, 2015 12:47:49 PM America/Los_Angeles

When you’re on the road, things can happen way too fast. In an instant you could be cruising along the highway and in another, you are stuck in a motor-vehicle accident. The problems with accidents is that it is always a battle of “your word against mine, or at least the words of people I pay to side with me”. It is really hard to find a witness that can vouch for you, much less step up to defend you. What if I told you that you can provide your very own witness – one that is irrefutable, clear, and undeniable?

There is no evidence more powerful than a video footage. When you are caught on tape, there is barely any testimony possible to say to sway the Judge as a video is pretty much getting caught in the act. For whatever purpose you may need it, Garmin’s latest Dash Cam will serve you well. This amazing dash mounted, heavy duty camera can capture videos up to a full HD 1080p for maximum clarity.

There are two versions of this product. There is a Dash Cam 10 and a Dash Cam 20. The only difference between the two is that the Dash Cam 20 features a GPS function to add even more credibility to your videos by tagging your location, direction, and even your speed at that point in the video as measured by the GPS.

The Dash Cam is able to take videos and photos of what is right in front of you to serve as another eye on the road and as a recording of what you’ve seen. It is powered by the car’s 12 volt power system and it is easily mounted and removed to either review the video on its 2.3 inch display or to turn it into a snap camera for a few quick shots of the wreckage.

While the most practical and primary purpose of the Dash Cam is to serve as a black box to help people understand what happened to the vehicle in an accident, the Dash Cam is also perfect at capturing a road trip with you and your friends. It can even save audio with a built in microphone so that you can hear just how wild it was in your car during the trip.

Automatic Detection

The Garmin Dash Cam usually just records a loop video of what is going on in front of you. It will keep recording until it fills the memory card you have installed, which is 4 GB by default. You can replace that with up to 32 GB so you can store a much longer video on record. Of course, we want to make sure that if ever an incident does occur, the relevant video will be safely tucked and won’t be overwritten by a new video feed.

The Garmin Dash does this automatically thanks to the built in sensors in the device that records and detects G-forces during an accident. When it detects enough G-Forces to conclude that an accident did happen, the Garmin Dash immediately saves and stores the related video to serve as evidence and witness to what transpired during that event.

Vivofit Fitness Band Brings You to a Healthy Life

Tuesday, May 26, 2015 12:45:43 PM America/Los_Angeles

Garmin is really ramping up their product lines. This time, the company is expanding their fitness range of products with one that completely stalks your daily routines in hopes of inspiring you to keep working out that body – the Vivofit.

Fitness bands are designed to always be with you. It serves as your daily partner in your goal of living a healthy lifestyle. It can go on working for pretty much more than a year according to Garmin, and it doesn’t have to come off unless you need to get that battery replaced. It is designed to look sleek and yet it is also very durable, with a shock absorbing coat that also serves as waterproofing, meaning that you can take this band with you even as you bathe or swim.

It Knows When You Are Sleeping

Just like that famous song about Santa Clause, this fitness band is able to keep track of you when you sleep. Putting it in sleep mode lets it track the quality of your rest as well as the length of your sleep. Day by day, you can keep track of all your sleeping patterns, allowing you to check if you are sleeping too much. After all, too much sleep can really hurt your health as much as enough sleep can help it.

It Knows When You’re Awake

One of the things that Garmin is so proud of their Vivofit is its ability to set your goals every time you wake up in the morning. The device always monitors your daily activities, whether you pass a previous goal or came up short. Vivofit takes every previous record into account and learns from your patterns and your needs so that it can calculate an adjusted goal for the next day. It then wakes you up with a new goal in mind, either to challenge you, or at least urge you to keep it up!

It Knows If You’ve Been Bad Or Good

Ok, so it won’t know if you have been doing some shady things during the day, but it does know if you have been doing good or bad things to your health. The Vivofit features what it calls the move bar. Studies show that prolonged periods of inactivity could really cramp out the body’s metabolism. It is important to keep on moving at least on regular and frequent intervals, especially if you work mostly from the desk or if you have a very lax lifestyle.

The Move Bar is a red bar that is right above the clock face of the Vivofit. It reminds you if you have been stationary for over an hour. It builds up and keeps reminding you by the hour to move a bit to stay healthy. Just walk around a bit and get the blood moving to reset this reminder.

Be Good For Goodness’ Sake

Vivofit is great for those who keep forgetting to stay fit and healthy, but for those who are actively striving to be the best they can be, will Vivofit make a perfect fit? Certainly so. You see, on top of the usual reminders and automatic goal setting of the device, the Vivofit is also equipped with ways to challenge yourself and put your achievements against others. When you connect using Garmin Connect, you can keep track of your daily progress as well as keep track of an online leaderboard, comparing your results with other people using their service.

Garmin GPSMAP 64 Series Reliability in your Hands

Tuesday, May 26, 2015 12:43:16 PM America/Los_Angeles

In the direst situations, your most immediate need is to hold on to someone or something you can rely on. When you’re out on the field and in need of direction and interconnection, nothing beats the reliability of Garmin’s GPSMAP handhelds. Graduating from the 62 Series, the new 64 series is familiar and yet even more reliable than the previous generation.

Faster Accuracy

In the age where companies are trying to tuck in the antenna into their devices to make them more “sleek and modern”, people tend to forget that the most reliable connections are still made with devices with external antennas. Not only do you never have to worry about blocking and touching the antenna during operation, the extended appendage helps gather signal much better than a hidden one.

Now with a double helix antenna design, the Garmin GPSMAP 64 series is the first in its line to introduce a GLONASS/GPS combo for a more accurate location and faster lock-in. Designed to help you navigate the world, the new capabilities allow you to connect and locate yourselves wherever you are with ease.

More Maps, More Storage

Store more and do more with the Garmin GPSMAP 64 Series. They managed to further increase the internal memory stored within the device to 4 GB in the 64 and 64s variant while the 64st variant features 8 GB of internal storage. For a seasoned globe trotter, that may not be enough, so Garmin keeps the ability to expand that storage with a memory card.

In Touch with the Wireless

Another new factor in the series is the addition of ANT+ wireless technology in the 64s and 64st to connect and communicate with a vast array of devices that use ANT+ connection including a host of Garmin products like heart rate monitors, power meters, and even their VIRB action camera. You can also connect with smartphones to receive smart notifications from the device straight to your GPSMAP handheld.

Married with your Mobile

Garmin likes to keep in touch with the times, and with smartphones being the greatest hit of the decade so far, Garmin connects with your mobile to further expand the features of your GPS devices. Coupled with Basecamp Mobile and Garmin Connect Mobile, you can use your smartphone’s mobile data and internet connectivity to be able to get information like new maps, waypoints, geocaches, and even keep your loved ones in touch by allowing them to track you live using your mobile device.

Two Way Power

As a true partner on the go, the Garmin GPSMAP 64 series is able to stay powered up in two different ways – 2 pcs of the traditional AA batteries you can score in almost every retail store out there. The other way is using the included rechargeable NiMH battery pack.

Packed with Bonuses

To get you started as soon as you unpack your new life partner, Garmin includes a host of files and data. For starters, they stored 250,000 geocaches for you to find and a bunch of preloaded maps to get you going. You can now also include up to 5000 waypoints stored in your device, and you can further expand your navigation experience with detailed topographic maps, marine maps, and road maps, plus you can download BirdsEye Satellite Imagery for which Garmin includes a 1 year free service included in your package.

What’s unique to golf is part of the battle is the ever changing landscape and obstacles that makes it hard to really master a course. What if you had small and perfectly legal ally with you when you take your clubs to the greens?

The Garmin Approach S2 is the evolution of their Approach S1 series. It maintains the same amazing features and design that you liked about the first one and improved it without making the watch overly bulky. In fact, it is so sleek, that it is sure to match any golfing attire you have in your cabinet.

Mastery of 30,000 Worlds

The Garmin Approach S2 stored a massive amount of data in that tiny watch-like device. As you know, every course in golf is like a whole new world. As such, the Approach S2 has a mastery of over 30,000 worlds, or courses, if you will. The best part is that it is always getting updated as the lay of the land changes, making sure you are at the top of your game every single time. The updates are free for life and it is possible they will add more coursed over time, thereby expanding your grasp of the world of golf.

Silently Keeping Score

It can calculate the yards you have left in every course, as well as the distance between the front, back, and middle of the green. In addition to the previous release, the Approach S2 can now provide you with layup and dogleg distances.

When playing solo, you can set the Approach S2 to keep track of your score, which means you won’t have to keep filling out a piece of paper that can easily be carried by the wind, nor do you have to worry about calculating it all later. It’s a great companion in practices as well as in competitive play. You can save your scores to your computer using a USB interface, which is perfect if you want to monitor the progress of your game.

Going the Distance

As a wrist worn device, you would expect that it doubles as a watch. Well, it does, and it can last at least 3 weeks in watch mode, so you can at least keep track of your time until your next game. In GPS mode, the device is expected to last at least 8 hours from a full charge. That is enough time to complete your play, even if it gets dragged on by other players.

For some players that love taking a hike along with their strokes, the watch is also equipped with an odometer to measure the distance you have walked. Of course, the bragging rights are of the shortest distance since that means you didn’t take too many detours with your shots.

Covers the Basics

Overall, the Garmin Approach S2 covers all of your basic needs as a beginner and an expert golfer. It provides you with a quick detail of what you need while not trying to wow you with diagrams, images, and graphs. You still have full control of your game. The Approach S2 is just there to keep you in line with what is due north and how far north you have to take it to. With the addition of dogleg and layup distances, you are sure to be able to tackle the different challenges a new course has to offer.

Garmin Edge Touring & Touring Plus Feature Review

Tuesday, May 26, 2015 12:38:27 PM America/Los_Angeles

When you go cycling, it is a whole new world. It has more speed than walking but it has to follow more rules of the road. It’s not quite the same as driving a motor vehicle, since you have routes that are not open to cars, and there are routes not meant for cyclists to pass through. You can’t just use a GPS for your car or a GPS for your hiking trips. You need a GPS dedicated to your biking direction and safety: the Garmin Edge Touring and the Garmin Edge Touring Plus.

The Concept of Two Worlds

In many cases, you can consider a biking GPS as a device between a Car GPS and a Hiking GPS. It is made mostly for hands free navigation and easy glances as you have less time to fiddle with a GPS than in your car. It is small and light so it won’t wear you down on the road as these trips are entirely powered by your body. It is also important to be light so as not to hinder your turning as they are usually mounted on either side of the handle bars.

Garmin Edge Touring and Touring Plus manage to enter that sweet spot where it is light and yet you have a big enough screen easily navigate hands free. It offers both on-road and off-road navigation as cycling involves treading both worlds. This means you can seamlessly follow the road and still find yourself on track even if you duck for a detour in the park.

The color display is bright enough to be seen outdoors without shade, and yet colorful enough to easily distinguish landmarks, roads, and your route. The touch display allows you to control the device easily while leaving a lot of room for the display of information and less on space consuming buttons. Since most of the time, you would be wearing your trusty gloves or your hands could be sweaty from the ride, the display is designed to work with gloves or wet hands.

Cycling Modes for the right Activity

The device is designed to make routes specifically for cycling. This means that it will be more mindful of elevation, gradient, road quality, and traffic. The device is preloaded with cycling specific maps so it has all the information you need as a navigating cyclist.

Of course, sometimes, your goal is not just to get from point A to B. Often times, your goal simply to travel a distance, either for training or for the regular exercise to keep you in shape. In case you just need a good route for training or exercise, all you have to input is the distance you want to travel. The device would then calculate a round trip route with the proper distance and difficulty.

You can easily set which mode of cycling you are taking, be it a sporty and fast Cycling ride, a more relaxing Tour Cycling expedition, or a rough Mountain Biking experience. The Garmin Edge Touring and Touring Plus are just as flexible as your riding options.

Meters and Numbers for the Road

Cycling is more than just about the destination and the route. Sometimes, all you want is to figure out your stats as you ride freely where the wind takes you. In cases like this, you can have the Garmin Edge Touring and Touring Plus display metrics about your ride, such as speed, average speed, max speed, time, distance, elevation, etc. You can design your own metrics page with up to 10 metrics displayed at the same time.

What makes the Touring Plus a more complete and compelling device is its ability to connect using ANT+ to health monitors so you can have a good read of your heart rate and other health data while on the road. It also has a barometric altimeter for a more accurate read of your road and your route. Regardless of your goal, Garmin’s Edge Touring and Touring Plus are equipped to help you along the way.
