Garmin Forerunner 955 Black Solar GPS Multisport Smartwatch (Garmin Certified Refurbished)

Introduction

The Garmin Forerunner 955 Black Solar combines extended battery endurance with precision training analytics designed for runners, cyclists, swimmers, and multisport athletes. Weighing just 53 grams with a rugged polymer case and stainless-steel bezel, this watch remains comfortable during ultra-distance efforts while actively harvesting solar energy to reduce charging frequency. Unlike standard multisport watches, the Forerunner 955 integrates VO2 max assessment, running dynamics analysis, Training Readiness Score, and adaptive Garmin Coach guidance into a single lightweight platform—enabling data-driven decisions that translate to faster race times and smarter recovery protocols.

Key Features

• Solar battery technology delivers up to 20 days of smartwatch mode under typical conditions and extends GPS mode to 49 hours with solar charging in bright outdoor light (50,000 lux minimum)
• 1.3-inch sunlight-readable color display with 260 × 260 pixel resolution and transflective MIP technology for visibility in direct sun without draining battery
• Ultralight 53-gram design with durable fiber-reinforced polymer bezel and protective stainless-steel accents rated 5 ATM for swimming and shower durability
• 32 GB internal storage capacity to load offline maps, store downloaded music, archive training files, and save multiple race courses simultaneously
• Extensive sport profiles covering running, cycling, swimming, golf, trail running, and 30+ additional activities with real-time pace, distance, and performance tracking
• Advanced training metrics including VO2 max, running dynamics (cadence, ground contact time, vertical oscillation), training load balance, and Recovery/Readiness indicators

Data Insights

The Training Readiness Score combines sleep quality metrics, heart rate variability (HRV) status, and accumulated training load to recommend whether conditions favor high-intensity efforts or active recovery. The Morning Report delivers a daily snapshot of sleep stages, HRV trends, readiness percentage, and local weather—eliminating guesswork when structuring weekly training blocks. Athletes who systematically track VO2 max progression and running dynamics across training cycles gain measurable advantages in race-day pacing and injury prevention, with consistency in these metrics correlating to improved finishing position and reduced injury incidence rates in endurance sports.

Usage Instructions

Maximize solar charging by wearing the watch outdoors during daily activities and training sessions, exposing the display face to direct sunlight whenever possible. Pair the watch with the Garmin Connect mobile app to access personalized Garmin Coach training plans tailored to your target race distance and current fitness level. Begin each training session by reviewing the Training Readiness Score and Morning Report on your wrist display to adjust planned workout intensity and duration based on real-time recovery status. Load pre-planned courses onto the watch via Garmin Connect to enable turn-by-turn navigation during outdoor runs, rides, and multisport events.

Design & Material

The Forerunner 955 Black balances athletic aesthetics with materials engineered to withstand years of intensive training and daily wear. The 46.5 × 46.5 × 14.4 millimeter footprint delivers a secure fit across wrist sizes while maintaining a low-profile silhouette that works for both athletic and casual settings. The watch features Corning Gorilla Glass DX on the lens for resistance to scratches and impacts, paired with a reinforced polymer bezel that absorbs shock without compromising the watch's lightweight profile.

• Lens: Corning Gorilla Glass DX front protection resists scratches from typical training environments and outdoor wear
• Bezel: Fiber-reinforced polymer construction adds impact resistance while maintaining the watch's lightweight design
• Case: Durable polymer shell with stainless-steel accents provides corrosion resistance and structural support
• Strap: Silicone band with QuickFit 22 mm compatibility allows tool-free band swaps for style customization or material preference
• Display: 1.3-inch transflective MIP color panel with 260 × 260 pixel density, readable in bright daylight without LCD glare or backlight lag
• Water resistance: 5 ATM (50-meter) rating permits lap swimming, open-water training, and immersion in showers or rain without damage
