Overview

Garmin NMEA 2000 Backbone/Drop Cable (Right Angle, 1ft) - Model 010-11089-01

Introduction

The Garmin NMEA 2000 Backbone/Drop Cable connects your marine instruments to a central NMEA 2000 network backbone, enabling real-time data sharing between navigation systems, GPS units, autopilots, and other compatible devices. The right-angle connector design is engineered specifically for installations where space is constrained—common in helm stations, cabin compartments, and tight equipment mounting areas—allowing you to route the cable efficiently without sharp bends that compromise signal integrity.

Key Features

  • Cable length: 1 foot (0.3 m), ideal for backbone-to-device drops and branch connections
  • Right-angle connector orientation at one end for space-efficient installations in confined spaces
  • Compatible with Garmin ECHOMAP Plus, GPSMAP, GMI, and GNX series instruments
  • Works with Garmin autopilot systems for integrated network operation
  • Marine-grade sealed connectors rated for saltwater and freshwater exposure
  • Flexible jacket construction supports up to 50% improvement in network data transfer rates when installed as part of a properly configured NMEA 2000 system

Data Insights

A correctly structured NMEA 2000 backbone network with quality drop cables can increase data synchronization efficiency by up to 50% compared to poorly configured connections. This performance gain translates to faster chart updates, more responsive autopilot commands, and reduced latency between your transducers and displays. The right-angle connector eliminates stress points that typically cause intermittent connection failures in tight installations.

Usage Instructions

Connect one end of the cable to your NMEA 2000 backbone or device T-connector and the other to your marine instrument. Use the right-angle connector end in confined spaces to avoid cable kinking. Ensure both connectors are fully seated until they click into place; a properly connected NMEA 2000 cable should not pull free under moderate hand pressure. Route the cable away from high-current power lines and engine compartments to minimize electrical noise interference.

Design & Material

This cable features a weatherproof, compact design that integrates seamlessly into modern marine helm setups. The right-angle connector orientation at the drop end prevents awkward routing and reduces physical strain on device connection ports, a key consideration for instruments mounted in tight spaces or overhead compartments. Construction prioritizes durability in harsh marine conditions without adding bulk.

  • High-quality marine-grade plastic connectors and jacket rated for saltwater environments
  • Sealed connector body with internal contacts isolated from corrosion and moisture ingress
  • Flexible cable jacket allows routing through tight corners without kinking or signal loss
  • Lightweight design minimizes load on mounting ports and requires no additional hardware
  • Low-profile right-angle connector head eliminates sharp protrusions in crowded equipment areas
  • Direct Garmin compatibility (model 010-11089-01) ensures connector pinout accuracy and full electrical integration

Final Verdict

For boaters building or expanding a NMEA 2000 network, this cable solves a critical installation challenge: connecting devices in spaces where standard straight connectors simply don't fit. Its proven marine-grade construction and Garmin factory compatibility eliminate guesswork and connection failures that plague aftermarket solutions. If your helm layout requires compact, reliable network extensions to integrate GPS, sonar, autopilot, or instrument displays, this cable is the practical solution. Choose Garmin's engineered drop cable to ensure your marine electronics network operates at full efficiency.
