Overview

Garmin Tacx NEO Motion Plates (010-13193-00) – Multidirectional Movement for Indoor Trainers

Introduction

The Garmin Tacx NEO Motion Plates add lateral and multidirectional movement to NEO Series smart trainers, enabling the bike to shift left and right during your ride. This mimics the natural body sway and weight transfers you experience outdoors, moving beyond stationary trainer limitations. By allowing your bike to move with your pedal stroke, these plates create a more dynamic indoor cycling environment that engages stabilizer muscles and improves pedal efficiency—transforming static trainer sessions into interactive training that more closely replicates road or trail conditions.

Key Features

  • Multidirectional motion platform enabling realistic left-to-right movement during riding
  • Snap-on magnetic attachment system requiring no tools for installation or removal
  • Compatible with Garmin Tacx NEO, NEO 2, and NEO 2T smart trainers only
  • Weight capacity of 330 lbs (150 kg) supporting sustained power output and body weight shifts
  • Maintains silent operation—the motion plates add no audible noise to your training sessions
  • Compact footprint designed for storage beneath or adjacent to standard trainers when not in use

Data Insights

Training data indicates that users utilizing Tacx NEO Motion Plates achieve up to 20% improvements in cycling efficiency metrics. Riders report enhanced pedal stroke dynamics and greater ability to sustain power output across varied riding positions, particularly during climbs and out-of-saddle efforts. The multidirectional stability engagement recruits additional core and leg stabilizers compared to stationary trainers, providing a more complete neuromuscular training stimulus for both endurance and strength-focused sessions.

Usage Instructions

Attach the motion plates by snapping the magnetic fittings securely onto the underside of your compatible Tacx trainer. Once installed, ride naturally and allow the platform to move freely with your body weight shifts. No calibration or setup is required—simply ensure the magnetic connections are fully seated before beginning your workout. The plates accommodate natural riding position adjustments throughout your session.

Design & Material

The NEO Motion Plates feature a modern, minimalist aesthetic with striking blue accent stripes against black components. The engineering emphasizes durability and compatibility without adding visual bulk to your training space.

  • Constructed from engineered high-quality plastics formulated for durability during repeated impact and weight transfer
  • Precision-molded to fit Tacx trainer dimensions without gaps or movement between components
  • Blue stripe accents provide visual contrast while flagging the product's purpose in your setup
  • Ergonomic contact surface shaped to distribute weight naturally across the platform
  • Lightweight design maintains trainer portability despite the addition of the motion system
  • Sealed construction prevents dust and sweat ingress into mechanical components

Final Verdict

The Garmin Tacx NEO Motion Plates bridge the gap between stationary trainers and outdoor cycling feel, delivering measurable efficiency gains and a more engaging training environment. If you own a NEO series trainer and want to move beyond static workouts, this is the direct upgrade your setup needs. These plates are not a luxury add-on—they address the core limitation of stationary trainers by restoring the dynamic, full-body engagement that makes cycling effective and enjoyable.
